Aloud runs on your Mac. Your voice, your words and your notes stay there, unless you choose to send a note somewhere.
Last updated October 15, 2026
The short version
- Aloud has no accounts, no sign-up and no telemetry. It doesn't track what you do.
- Dictation and Meeting Notes are processed on your Mac. Audio never leaves it.
- Only when you export a note to Google Docs or Notion does Aloud send that note, straight from your Mac to that service, using your own sign-in.
- Those sign-ins are kept in the macOS Keychain on your Mac. Nobody else holds them, including us.
What stays on your Mac
Everything you dictate, every recording, transcript and summary in Meeting Notes, and your settings are stored and processed on your Mac. We never receive them. There is no Aloud account and no server that holds your data.
Aloud does go online for a few plain things: a one-time download of its speech and notes components after you install it, and a check for new versions. Those requests ask for files; they don't carry your words, notes or recordings.
Exporting a note to Google Docs or Notion
Exporting is optional and off until you connect an account. When you export a note, Aloud sends that note's content directly from your Mac to Google or Notion. It doesn't pass through us. Nothing is sent in the background, and no other note is sent.
After that, the copy in Google Docs or Notion is governed by that service's own privacy policy.
Google user data
When you connect Google, Aloud asks for only:
- Files Aloud creates in your Google Drive (the
drive.filescope). Aloud can create and update the documents it exports. It can't see or open anything else in your Drive. - Your basic profile and email address, only to show which Google account is connected.
Aloud uses this access only to create the documents you ask it to export. Your Google data stays between your Mac and Google: we never receive it, store it, sell it, share it, use it for ads, or use it to train any model, and no person reads it.
Aloud's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Notion
When you connect Notion, Notion asks you which pages Aloud may use. Aloud can add your exported notes only to those pages. It doesn't read the rest of your workspace.
Notion's sign-in needs one step Aloud can't do on your Mac alone: trading a one-time sign-in code for access, which requires a secret that can't safely ship inside an app. So that one step goes through getaloud.work. It adds the secret, passes the code to Notion, and hands Notion's answer straight back to your Mac. It doesn't store, cache or log codes, tokens or anything else you send, and your notes never pass through it.
Where your sign-ins are kept
The access Google and Notion give Aloud is stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac, protected by your Mac's login. It isn't synced or sent anywhere else by Aloud.
Disconnecting
Disconnect Google or Notion in Aloud's settings at any time. Aloud deletes that sign-in from your Keychain. Documents you already exported stay in your Google Drive or Notion until you delete them there.
You can also cut off Aloud's access from the other side:
- Google: open your Google Account's third-party connections, choose Aloud, and remove its access.
- Notion: in Notion, open Settings, then Connections, find Aloud and disconnect it.
This website
getaloud.work is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, it keeps short-lived request logs (such as IP address, time and the page requested) to run and protect the site. We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and reports only totals, such as page views and downloads. The site has no sign-in and asks you for nothing.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If Aloud ever wants to use your data in a new way, it will ask you first.
Aloud is made by Abraham Gonzalez. For questions about privacy, email support@getaloud.work. See also the terms of use.
